1. Cayden Daughtry’s historic Peach Jam title run

There were a ton of quality performances throughout the Nike EYBL Peach Jam, but there’s no question who the star was over the past week.

Cayden Daughtry, a 6-0 point guard prospect representing the Florida Rebels in the Peach Jam, had a historically good run, earning the event’s first-ever MVP honors and leading his team to a 71-60 win in the title game on Sunday.

Daughtry had 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the win, which was around his overall averages throughout the eight-game run. The five-star playmaker, who won a gold medal with Team USA earlier this month at the U17 World Cup, was the best overall scorer for any player in the 2027 class, making a case for rising to the top in the next set of recruiting updates.

It’s an even more remarkable run considering Daughtry hasn’t slept in his own bed since before Team USA in June.

Another AAU event taking place was the Adidas 3SSB Palmetto Road Championships. In the U17 title game, four-star guard Kamari Whyte had 20 points to lead New Heights to a close 66-64 win over Mass Rivals. The losing side was led by Antonio Pemberton, who had 33 points and averaged over 30 ppg during the tournament run, including a buzzer-beater vs. the Compton Magic. He’s also making the case for being a top guard on the AAU circuit.

The most thrilling finish came in the U16 title game, with Team Loaded winning 58-57 over Midwest thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from class of 2028 forward Hudson Hatch. He led the team with 18 points and showed why he’s a notable prospect to watch in the near future.

2. Arkansas, Vandy get reclassified commits for 2026-27

While much of the attention is on the pending lawsuits that could allow dozens of players to earn an extra year of eligibility (more on that later), there are other avenues for teams to add players to their rosters. Reclassifying has always been a thing for top prospects, but due to the new age-based eligibility rules, there’s actually a need for some of the older class of 2027 prospects to move up a year to guarantee as many as five years of eligibility in college basketball.

This weekend, two key players made the move.
