Top 10 2028 prospect Mason Collins chats early recruitment, CP3 summer

Fresh off helping Team USA capture a FIBA U17 World Cup title in Turkey, class of 2028 five-star wing Mason Collins now has his eyes set on a 16u Peach Jam title with Team CP3.

Collins, the 6-6 wing out of The Tatnall School (DE), has had an impressive summer so far with CP3, averaging 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists in the regular season and opening Peach Jam with 21 points, four rebounds and five assists in a win against Team Takeover.

The former Delaware Gatorade POTY said this summer so far has been a blessing and particularly mentioned his Team USA experience.

“You don't get many opportunities like that to play against the best players in the world,” Collins said. “Like, that's the most fun I've had playing basketball in a long time -- playing together with the best guys in the country. It was just a great experience." 

While Collins has stood out with his play, he also thinks of himself as a great leader. He added his best trait is his feel for the game.

“I think I'm a very versatile player,” Collins said. “I'm a great leader. I feel like I'm very vocal. So playing mostly like 1-4, I can initiate offense, be a scorer, be a defensive player, rebound, push the pace. I feel like I can do a lot of things very well.

“I know where people are before they get there. I know where people are supposed to be. So just knowing where everybody is, using my voice to get everybody directed in the right spots is one thing I'm great at I think."

Team CP3’s 16u coach, Andy Poplar, also sees Collins’ versatility as an asset.

“Mason is just a glue guy,” Poplar said. “He makes everybody around him better… Obviously, he’s a great athlete, can score at all three levels. I think he’s our best on the ball defender in terms of staying in front of his man. He’s been our leading defensive rebounder since the start of the season. So he just does a little

Collins comes from a very athletic family. His mother, Ariana Moore, played basketball at Temple and is currently South Carolina women's basketball's director of basketball operations. His father, Mardy Collins, also starred at Temple before being selected by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft. His older brother, Madden Collins, currently plays at American and led the Eagles in scoring as a freshman in 2025-26.

On the recruitment front, Collins holds offers from Florida State, Georgetown, NC State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Utah, Villanova and Virginia.
