1. Caleb Love’s ‘best moment’ stuns Iowa State

Is a half-court heave the ideal last-second shot? Nah. But when has Caleb Love ever done things the easy way?

Love — who was 1-for-10 from deep before the heave — followed up that shot at the end of regulation with two more 3s in overtime as Arizona stunned No. 3 Iowa State, 86-75 on Monday night. He finished with 22 points, and said afterward that the shot was the “best moment of my life.”

That’s a bold statement considering he hit this shot just three years ago. Iowa State coach TJ Otzlberger might agree.

"The bomb and those two in overtime? Goodness," he said, via the Arizona Daily Star. "I mean, after he hits the three-quarter court shot, I'm sure he felt great to make the other ones that presented in overtime."

Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd was a little more pragmatic.

"You're just trying to hang in there and give yourself a chance," Lloyd said. "A desperation 3 is probably not the chance you're trying to give yourself. But it made for great theater."

The shot overshadowed that Arizona played terrific the entire game. It led Iowa State (17-3, 7-2 in Big 12) at halftime and stifled its leading scorer, Curtis Jones, who was just 1-of-11 for 8 points. Keshon Gilbert (17) and Tamin Lipsey (18) picked up the scoring slack, but it’s clear that the Cyclones didn’t love their trip out west. It needed a 17-3 finish to pull away from Arizona State on Saturday, and scored just .94 points per possession on Monday, just their second time they’ve been below 1.03 all season.

Arizona (14-6, 8-1) is now all alone in second place in the Big 12, just half a game behind Houston. Those two play each other just once this season, on Feb. 15 in Tucson.

Make sure you watch that game until the end.

2. Flagg’s big second half pushes Duke + more results

Cooper Flagg just needed a little push. Coach Jon Scheyer was happy to give it.
