Welcome to the Field of 68 Newsletter!

We've got plenty cooking as the college hoops season truly kicks into high gear.

Five days into the season, and man, is it good to have college hoops back! We’ve already seen three top-10 teams get knocked off and the nation’s preseason No. 1 very much looks the part. Oh, and what’s on tap this week? Just the Champions Classic, the Jimmy V Classic, the Maui Invitational and a battle between the nation’s top two teams.

No big deal.

But you know what’s just as loaded as this week’s slate? The Field of 68 Media Network’s podcast lineup! Not only are we up to FIFTEEN team-specific shows (with more on the way 👀 👀 👀 ) but in just the last few weeks, we’ve added three additional national shows: Demetris and A Splash of Fanta, Christy’s Court and the Field of 68’s Best Bets.

So what can you expect from our newsletter? Well, we plan on having this in your inbox three times a week — bright and early on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays — catching you up on what you might’ve missed around the network, highlighting some of our favorite conversations from the past few days, previewing what’s to come and keeping you in the loop with what we’ve got cooking here at the Field of 68.

If you really want to be on top of things, make sure you give us a follow over on our Twitter feed as well as our YouTube page, where you can watch full episodes in addition some of the best moments from all the shows across the Field of 68.

WATCHING THE TAPE

So we’ll usually feature this section on Fridays, looking back at what new shows and episodes we’ve dropped in the last week. But since this is the very first Field of 68 newsletter, I thought we’d highlight our latest additions:

Former Blue Devil Andre Dawkins has gone from smooth beyond the arc to behind the mic, giving you all you need to know about the five-time national champions. After launching with Nolan Smith and chatting with Quinn Cook, Andre caught up with current Blue Devil assistant Chris Carrawell, who previewed Duke’s current roster and shared memories of his 2000 ACC Player of the Year season.

Well, the bottle’s already been popped but the good times keep on flowing with Deon Thomas, who’s hit the ground running with Illinois head coach Brad Underwood and preseason All-American Ayo Dosunmu. And for his latest chat? Kendall Gill joins Deon to chat about Lou Henson, recruiting Chicago and the Flying Illini’s trip to the 1989 Final Four.

Who better than Christy Winters-Scott to helm our first women’s college basketball podcast? The former Terp and current color analyst is already bringing the heat, talking to the head coach of the No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks, Dawn Staley, and breaking down the preseason top 25 with ESPN’s Debbie Antonelli. Stay tuned for what’s coming next!

Still thirsty? These two will do their best to quench it. After launching their show with Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann, Demetris and John caught up about a wild first two days of the hoops season — and they’ll keep it smooth with a regular mix of interviews and analysis, covering the entire national landscape.

You looking to get rich? Well, we can’t guarantee that. But what we can promise is more than 30 combined years of college basketball expertise from Field of 68 founders Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman as they look at the day’s value buys and stay-aways every morning live on Twitter and in your podcast feed.

THE MIXTAPE

Every few days, we’ll give you some of the most interesting — and funniest —moments from our conversations across the Field of 68 Media Network.

From Floyd Street’s Finest, our Louisville show, former Card Peyton Siva dished with host Jeff Greer on former teammate Russ Smith and some of their favorite moments together in the ‘Ville:

From Beale Street Bullies, our Memphis podcast, host Antonio Anderson got Tigers head coach and program legend Penny Hardaway to open up about the time he was shot and how it nearly derailed his hoop dreams:

And of course, The Scorer’s Table with former Syracuse standout Eric Devendorf was laugh out loud funny. He and Paul Harris cracked up talking about when a young Harris chose to not listen to coach Jim Boeheim:

WHO GOT NEXT?

One of the benefits of subscribing to our newsletter is that you’ll always know what heat is coming soon to the Field of 68 Media Network. That’s not just new shows and projects but also a heads-up on some of our upcoming guests.

In the coming days, you’ll be hearing the sweet sounds of interviews with:

So if you’re not already subscribed to those feeds — not to mention the rest of our podcasts — hop on that now! And while you’re at it, share the Field of 68 with anyone and everyone you know.

We’ll certainly be enjoying the hoops action the next few days — I know I can’t wait for that Champions Classic doubleheader Tuesday — and hope you’ll enjoy it too. Talk to you Wednesday!
