‘We caught a break tonight’
Kansas needed every bit of Peterson's 32 points -- and some Allen Fieldhouse luck -- to beat TCU. Plus: Michigan survives on the road, Duke rallies past Louisville, Miami (Ohio) stays perfect, and much more from a wild Tuesday night.
Good morning! Grab an extra cup of coffee this morning after staying up late to watch those college hoops finishes.
Wait, you missed them? No worries. We have you covered.

1. Kansas pulls off remarkable comeback vs. TCU
No. 22 Kansas needed more than just Darryn Peterson’s scoring magic to beat TCU 104-100 in overtime on Tuesday night. It needed a little Phog Allen magic.
The Horned Frogs led Kansas 82-67 with 5:15 left and led 85-76 with 1:14 remaining in regulation. Hit a few foul shots, and it was over. Kansas had a 1.4% chance to win.
But they frittered away a few possessions and led 87-84 with five seconds left. It threw away a couple of in-bound passes, then fouled Darryn Peterson on a potential game-tying 3-pointer with less than two seconds left.
Peterson, who sat from the 2:39 stretch until that final possession, nailed all three foul shots to force overtime. Kansas led the whole way in OT, hit enough free throws to lock it down, and staved off the upset bid.
TCU shot 15-of-35 from deep, well above its season average of 35%. It hit enough shots to win. It just didn’t make enough plays down the stretch in an historic collapse. The Jayhawks (11-4, 1-1 in Big 12) became just the 13th team in D-I history to win a game in which it trailed by at least 15 points with less than five minutes to play.
Peterson led the Jayhawks with 32 points in 31 minutes. He also went to the foul line 15 times in perhaps his best performance of the season — even if he did have to sit once again due to cramping.
Tre White scored 22 points (8-of-14 shots), and Melvin Council also had 18 points with six rebounds and eight assists. KU was 30-of-40 from the free-throw line, which might’ve been the difference.
"I'll leave here very thankful knowing that we caught a break tonight,” Kansas coach Bill Self said.
TCU (11-4, 1-1) got 23 points from Liutauras Lelevicius and 20 from David Punch.
Kansas will head to Morgantown to play West Virginia on Saturday, while TCU hosts Arizona.
2. Michigan looks mortal for once
Guess No. 2 Michigan won’t win every game by 30. Or even double digits. And it might’ve been lucky to win at all on Tuesday.
