Grades are in
Rob and Jeff finally got around to handing out transfer grades. Indiana's up first. Plus, the school that could be the biggest player for AJ Dybantsa, Big 12 realignment rumors, schedule moves and more
Good morning! And welcome to another edition of the Field of 68 Daily, where I’m still trying to wrap my head around the idea of AJ Dybantsa potentially headed for a $5 million NIL payday.
Get to that in a bit.
1. Your newest offseason argument starter
We do many things at The Field of 68. Mostly, there’s a lot of hoops discussion.
That happens during the regular season, the post season, during the portal, and even during the summer.
Sometimes we bring in guest stars to help further that discussion. Like when former Michigan star and current Big Ten expert Ant Wright stops by to discuss the initial team in our Offseason Grades series.
He and Rob Dauster spend 20 minutes discussing the potent roster additions in Bloomington and the pressure that looms on coach Mike Woodson.
And it’s not just pressure from a missed 2024 NCAA Tournament. It comes from the revamped roster Woodson built through the transfer portal that includes impact guards in Myles Rice (Washington State) and Kanaan Carlyle (Stanford), a shooter in Luke Goode (Illinois) and one of the sport’s premier big men in Oumar Ballo (Arizona).
It’s a roster worthy of at least a Sweet 16 run, if not a Final Four spot. And that’s where the pressure comes in.
Give it a listen, and subscribe to the Field of 68’s YouTube channel (if you haven’t already) to ensure you don’t miss any of the 50 (or so) videos.
Gotta love the summer content.
2. The darkhorse team in AJ Dybantsa’s recruitment
Most agree that AJ Dybantsa’s the top prospect in the class of 2025 (though you’ll find plenty of people who say Cam Boozer, Darryn Peterson, Darius Acuff and Koa Peat are damn fine “consolation” prizes).
But there’s little agreement about where the 6-9 wing will play. And that opens the door for a program with the right fit — and right amount of NIL — to make the case.
