Memphis may have closed the door on a Haggerty return, while St. John's added a point guard with its latest transfer. Plus: Florida gets back a big man, a USC recruit has a car accident, and what the top teams for 2025-26 are still waiting on.
Good morning! You made it to the weekend.
Let's get to Thursday’s news.

1. Did Memphis close the door on a Haggerty return?
It’s been a busy 48-hour span for Memphis.
After landing former 5-star center prospect Aaron Bradshaw, it added a running partner in guard Dug McDaniel. The 5-11 point guard averaged 11.4 ppg and 4.9 apg this season for Kansas State, and 16.3 ppg the season before at Michigan.

He’s one of the sport’s quickest players and likely be running the Tigers’ offense — though the Memphis Commercial-Appeal noted that’s not a foregone conclusion with Dante Harris already on the roster.
“If I want the keys, it’s up to me. I have to work and prove that,” McDaniel told the paper. “I’m capable of driving the car. I’m all for that.”
Where does that leave All-American guard P.J. Haggerty, who’s currently in the portal in search of a reported $4 million NIL payday and the opportunity to play point guard? Memphis coach Penny Hardaway didn’t rule out Haggerty’s return, but it wouldn’t be at that rate. And now it looks like he’s be back to playing shooting guard as well.
McDaniel joins fellow transfers Sincere Parker (McNeese State), Julius Thedford (Western Kentucky), Quante Berry (Temple), Bradshaw and Harris on the roster. He’s already making plans with those teammates for spring and summer workouts, so whether Haggerty joins them will be an open question.
2. St. John’s lands a PG + more transfer moves
Rick Pitino’s transfer portal class had already earned raves this month — and that was without a true point guard on the roster. So much for that.
