1. Introducing The Field of 68 24-Hour Opening Day Marathon

The 24 Hour Marathon is officially back!

On Tuesday morning, we dropped the full, eight game schedule for what will unquestionably be the longest opening day in college basketball history.

Things kick off at midnight in Rock Hill, S.C., with two of the best mid-major programs in the country squaring off: Liberty and High Point. It will end at 8 p.m. ET with a date between Furman and Bethune Cookman, also in Rock Hill. In between, we’ll have six more games, all streamed exclusively on The Field of 68 Youtube and X channels.

Here’s the full schedule: The first four games taking place in the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center:

• High Point vs. Liberty, Midnight ET/11 pm CT

• Grambling vs. Northern Illinois, 3 am ET/2am CT

• Appalachian State vs Merrimack, 6 am ET/5am CT

• Queens vs. Winthrop, 9 am ET/8 am CT

The next two games will be played in Sioux Falls, SD:

• Murray State vs. Tennessee State, 11:30 am ET/10:30 am CT

• UTEP vs. Northern Kentucky, 2 pm ET/1 pm CT

And the final two games will be played back in Rock Hill, S.C.:

• UAB vs. McNeese State, 5:30 pm ET/4:30 pm CT

• Furman vs. Bethune-Cookman, 8 pm ET/7 pm CT

2. Latest updates with NCAA in the courts

On Monday, the NCAA asked the 10th Circuit Court for a stay of the Colorado class action lawsuit's preliminary injunction, which has temporarily allowed all class of 2022 athletes to get an extra year of eligibility.

This came after Colorado Judge Sweeney denied the NCAA’s motion to stay. If the stay is granted by the 10th Court, it would greatly limit how many fifth-year college basketball players would play next season.

The other path to eligibility has been for specific individuals to use state courts. Another lawsuit along that path was filed on Monday, with former Miami forward Malik Reneau as the headliner, along with 16 other names.

Teams looking for spots also continue to recruit, with former Florida center Micah Handlogten reportedly down to three options: NC State, Ole Miss and USC. Joseph Pinion, who averaged 14.6 ppg at South Florida last season, is also rumored to follow coach Bryan Hodgson to Providence once fully cleared to play.

3. NC State lands first commitment in 2027 class

While the Wolfpack are reportedly looking to add a player for the upcoming season, the new coaching staff is busy with its first recruiting class as well.

On Monday, NC State landed a frontcourt propect: three-star Jamil Robinson. The power forward prospect out of Georgia is viewed as a long-term developmental prospect for the program.
