1. Wofford players ‘reinstated’ and new coach incoming

Wofford seems to be resolving its men’s hoops conundrum.

After coach Dwight Perry associate head coach Tysor Anderson were fired on Sept. 12, Jeff Goodman reported on Thursday that six Wofford players were deemed ineligible by the NCAA due to benefits totaling as little as $84.

The NCAA refuted this claim, and the speculation was that Wofford instead took action to avoid potential punishment, resulting in the firing of Perry and ineligibility of players.

However, Mark Peper, the lawyer who represents the majority of the Wofford players, said on Friday all the players are cleared to play.

With that, Wofford is now focused on hiring Virginia Tech assistant coach Kevin Giltner to replace Dwight Perry. He played at Wofford and was an assistant under Mike Young with the Terriers. Goodman said the deal could be done as early as Monday.
