1. Tyon Grant-Foster can play for Gonzaga

Last week, it looked like Tyon Grant-Foster was out of time. The NCAA denied his appeal for an extra year of eligibility, despite only playing two full seasons at Grand Canyon. The rest of his career — two years at JUCO, two medical redshirt seasons — shouldn’t count by the established precedent.

So he and his legal team filed a preliminary injunction, which a judge heard on Monday. After more than two hours, the judge ruled against the NCAA. Now Grant-Foster can play the 2025-26 season without disruption.

He actually played on Monday as part of Gonzaga’s exhibition game against Western Oregon. “The reaction in the locker room (when Grant-Foster arrived) was priceless. It’s something I’ll never forget,” coach Mark Few said later.

And when he did check into the game, it was quite the scene at the McCarthey Athletic Center.

Grant-Foster finished the game with four points and three rebounds in nine minutes played of Gonzaga’s 111-53 blowout. But the real win came before the game, as he explained: “I’ve been dealing with so much uncertainty. I could practice, but I knew it could end tomorrow. Now that weight is off me, I can go to sleep now. I jump higher. Adam [Miller] told me that.”

The 6-7 forward will boost Gonzaga’s ceiling this season.

The former WAC POY averaged 14.8 ppg and 5.9 rpg last season. And his athleticism and offensive game will boost the Zags, who are ranked 21st in the AP preseason poll.
