Sooner surge
Oklahoma continued to bolster its roster by adding fifth-year transfer Duke Brennan. Plus: More fifth-year commits, Kenyon Giles will return to Wichita State, Arizona lost its foreign tour opener, and more.
Good morning! We had a very busy Wednesday, so let’s get right to the news.
Gray Hair and Beard? One Spray. No Dye. No Mess.
Most gray hair solutions only work on your head. Or they're designed for women. Or they're dye — which means gray roots, a bad smell, and a hairline that stops looking real. Particle Anti-Gray Serum is different. One product, five seconds a day, works on both hair and beard. It targets the root cause of graying and gradually restores your natural color — no dye, no mess, no routine that takes over your morning. Results that look natural because they are. 1. Oklahoma continues to improve via fifth-year transfers
If one program has benefited the most from the five-for-five eligibility lawsuits, it may just be Oklahoma.
The Sooners landed Villanova transfer Duke Brennan, giving Porter Moser a second fifth-year transfer in the past week and Oklahoma an inside presence it desperately needed.
Brennan, the 6-10 big man, averaged 12.4 points and 10.3 rebounds last season at Villanova and tied the program record with 14 double-doubles. He’s a rebounding machine and helps solidify the five-spot for Oklahoma. It’s also important that Brennan is named in the California TRO ruling, giving him extra legal protection in case of a stay in the Colorado national case.
Earlier this week, Oklahoma added former SMU guard and fifth-year transfer BJ Edwards to bolster its backcourt. Both fifth-year additions will be major boosts. Here’s a quick look at what the Sooners could look like if everyone remains eligible:
Xzayvier Brown, returning G: 15.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.3 apg
Pop Isaacs, Texas A&M transfer G: 9.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.6 apg
BJ Edwards, SMU transfer G: 12.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 4.9 apg
Derrion Reid, returning F: 11.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.1 apg
Duke Brennan, Villanova transfer C: 12.4 ppg, 10.3 rpg
Bench: returning G Dayton Forsythe (5.3 ppg), returning C Kai Rogers (1.6 ppg), Oregon State transfer F Yaak Yaak (6.6 ppg, 2.2 rpg), Utah Valley transfer W Tyler Hendricks (11.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg), Louisville transfer F Khani Rooths (5.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg), G League center Akoldah Gak, 4-star SG Quincy Wadley and 4-star W Gage Mayfield.
That would probably be the most talented group Moser has had at Oklahoma, and he also has depth at every position.
More fifth-year transfer developments:
Columbia transfer guard and Second Team All-Ivy League selection Kenny Noland (17.1 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 3.7 apg) chose Michigan. He serves as the LJ Cason replacement.
Georgia Tech transfer point guard Lamar Washington (9.6 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 5.1 apg) committed to Boise State.
Campbell added Omaha transfer Lance Waddles (12.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.1 apg).
2. Wichita State pushing for best mid-major?
As the saying goes, sometimes the best gets are the ones you already have.
And because of the five-for-five lawsuits, Wichita State might’ve just walked into being regarded as the preseason American Conference favorite. The Shockers are set to get back Kenyon Giles, the league’s second-leading scorer last season at over 20 ppg.
