'By far the best team in the country. It's not even close.'

Purdue thumped Maryland on the road ... and didn't even play well. Is there any doubts about the Boilers? Plus, Colorado State struts its stuff, Wake wins again, and we dive into the wonders of the Horizon League.

It just felt right having a lengthy slate of college hoops following a light Monday. The action didn’t disappoint, either. We learned more about Purdue’s dominance, Illinois looked the part without a star, and we might have seen the best team West of the Mississippi.

Let's get to it.

1. Road woes? Not for Purdue

Nothing is easy during conference road games. And when you’re the nation’s No. 1 team, heading to a place where it lost last season and has historically fared well against No. 1? Well, that should be a recipe for a tight game.

Or not.

Zach Edey scored 23 points and had 12 rebounds as Purdue (13-1, 2-1 in Big Ten) crushed Maryland on Tuesday night, leaving Terps coach Kevin Willard in awe. Maryland (9-5, 1-2) had won 19 in a row at home. This one was never in doubt.

“By far the best team in the country. It's not even close,” Willard said. “You look at their schedule, who they've played, where they've played, it's the best team in the country. But for them to come in here and do this to us on our home court, that should be a little bit of an eye-opener for everybody.”

And it’s not like Purdue was perfect.
