Peach Jam primer
Who are the teams to watch and standout players? Here's a guide. Plus: Greg Sankey cools on NCAA tourney expansion, Kevin Willard on his move to Villanova, latest schedules for Players Era Festival, a move to the Sun Belt and a college hoops video game turns ... lame?
Good morning! Hope you’re ready for a week of Peach Jam updates. It’s a mid-summer tradition like no other.
Let's get to Monday’s news.

1. Peach Jam primer
July’s biggest event is here. Nike EYBL’s Peach Jam kicks off at the Riverview Park Activities Center in North Augusta, S.C. and will feature several of the top high school prospects in the country.
At each of the 15u, 16u and 17u levels, 24 teams will compete for the title. Tuesday through Friday will consist of pool play, with four pools consisting of six teams each. The top two teams from each pool will then move onto bracket play, which will be a single elimination tournament running Saturday-Sunday. The full schedule can be found here.
Most of the coaches’ eyes will be on the 17u tournament, and it’s shaping out to be a doozy. Below is a quick look at how the pools shaped out. You can click the team name for more information on their roster and top performers so far this summer.
Pool A: Team Takeover, Team Durant, Team United, Utah Prospects, Pro Skills, Nightrydas Elite.
Pool B: Team CP3, Team Melo, PSA Cardinals, Vegas Elite, Drive Nation, Mac Irvin Fire.
Pool C: NY Rens, Arizona Unity, JL3 Elite, City Rocks, Florida Rebels, Team WhyNot.
Pool D: Oakland Soldiers, Team Final, Mokan, Bradley Beal Elite, Team Thad, Expressions Elite.
This year’s tournament is particularly intriguing because any team winning could win. Last season, there were dominant teams like the A.J. Dybantsa and Oakland Soldiers, and Nightrydas Elite, led by the Boozer twins. This year, the talent is much more spread out.
The main storyline I’m watching is who comes out of Pool 3.
The Oakland Soldiers have 5-star talent in Tyran Stokes and Jason Crowe Jr. Mokan is one of the deepest teams in the EYBL with six players ranked in the top-100. Bradley Beal Elite won the 16u finals last season. And Team Thad may have the best guard trio out there in 2027 5-star LJ Smith, and 2026 4-stars Kayden Allen and Tarris Bouie.
My favorites to win it all are Team Takeover, Vegas Elite and Arizona Unity, who just got 5-star Brandon McCoy Jr. back. All in all, we should be in for a treat this week.
2. Greg Sankey: SEC ‘fine’ regardless of tourney expansion
Who would have guessed? SEC commissioner Greg Sankey is on board with expanding the NCAA Tournament. Or not. Either way.
