The weekend in hoops (recruiting)

Adidas 3SSB and Peach Jam? Here's what you need to know. Plus, a must-read on the best coaches, San Diego State's outlook, and much more.

Good morning. It was a quiet weekend for college hoops. Everything else? No so much.

Let’s focus on hoops.

1. News, stats and more from prep events

Peach Jam gets all the attention, but don’t forget the Adidas 3SSB title game. Sunday’s showdown between Utah Prospects and Indiana Elite showcased some of the expected stars.

Four-star combo guard Ikenna Alozie scored 19 points and had 6 boards, while 4-star shooting guard Jalin Holland had 12 points.

But 247 Sports analyst Eric Bossi says Prospects big Chamberlain Burgess, a 6-9 center in the class of 2025 who doesn’t currently have a rating, emerged as a player who’ll be one to watch in the future.

The game’s biggest stat stuffer was Braylon Mullins, who hit four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points. The 6-5 shooting guard and Top 25 prospect in the class of 2025 was one of the main points of attraction during the week. His teammate, Malachi Moreno, a 4-star center, also impressed many of the coaches there.

Alozie did the same, as did 5-star prospect Koa Peat of Compton Magic and 6-5 wing Matthew Able. Here’s a quick rundown of the top players.

However, the prospect who was the biggest star at 3SSB? That’s shooting guard Darryn Peterson, who’s pushing AJ Dybantsa and Cam Boozer as the top prospect in the class.

There was no shortage of coaches watching these players. (Even if the timing doesn’t exactly jibe with the start of the live evaluation period.)

That also spilled over into Peach Jam, as coaches watched 5-star wing Jalan Haralson, 4-star Acaden Lewis, and 5-star Jasper Johnson.

Johnson’s expected to announce a commitment not long after Peach Jam wraps. Another notable bit of news? Dybantsa will announce his list of top schools later this month. And that’s pretty much every prominent program.

We’ll have more off the game results at Peach Jam throughout the week. And if you’re feeling spicy, tweet at Rob Dauster and Jeff Goodman. They’re both on site in Georgia. Maybe they could write something.
