1. Indiana blows out Canada in exhibition game
For the first time this offseason, we had a college basketball team in action.
The Indiana Hoosiers, representing the U.S., played Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, representing Canada, inside Assembly Hall on Wednesday as a tune-up for their foreign tour to Peru from July 20-Aug. 1.
It was a strong start for Darian DeVries’ squad, as the Hoosiers pulled out a 98-64 victory.
Indiana started the game with its five-man transfer class Markus Burton (Notre Dame), Bryce Lindsay (Villanova), Darren Harris (Duke), Aiden Sherrell (Alabama) and Samet Yigitoglu (SMU). Sherrell had the best game of the bunch, leading the team with 16 points while knocking down two triples, and it was interesting to see how he fit alongside another big in Yigitoglu.
Two of Indiana’s incoming freshmen, four-star point guard Prince Alexander-Moody (13 points) and four-star wing Trevor Manhertz (10 points), also really impressed, and the Hoosiers did a great job sharing the basketball with 20 assists on 36 field goals.
