1. Creighton fails its finals week test (but it wasn’t the only one)

Maybe Creighton should avoid Mountain West teams from here on out.

After a 21-point loss to Colorado State last month, the No. 8 Bluejays got run off the court in a 79-64 loss to UNLV on Wednesday night. Creighton (8-2) had an early lead, but once it fell behind midway through the first half, they never found their groove.

“UNLV played great,” Creighton coach Greg McDermott said. “They controlled tempo probably as good as anybody we've played this year. You control tempo if you’re ahead. It’s hard to do if you’re behind. They got that lead and we just couldn’t penetrate that lead.”

Credit to the Boone brothers, Kalib (25 points on 12-of-17 shooting) and Keylan, who was playing his first game of the season thanks to a federal judge’s ruling that impacted second-time transfer across the country. He scored 10 points, had seven rebounds.
