A bracket guide

Perplexed by all the "expert" analysis you saw Monday? Have the DTF crew take you game-by-game in your bracket. It'll help. Plus, the First Four opens tonight, Dambrot will retire -- and the portal had nearly 300 names added on Monday.

How many brackets have you completed by now? Just one? More than 5? Do you keep redoing a single bracket?

Sounds like you need to go game-by-game, then get some computer assistance.

1. Fill out a bracket with the DTF crew

You got inundated with bracket breakdowns and picks on Monday. So let’s try to be a little more focused here and just fill out one bracket, one game at a time.

After all, if you’re going to win win your pool — we have two you can enter, a free-to-enter bracket at Run Your Pool, and a $5 survivor bracket at splashsports.com/68 — it’s helpful to go through every game on the sheet because you can stare at projections all day long. Sometimes, you just need to focus on the specific matchups.

So let’s go region by region as Rob Dauster, Terrence Oglesby and John Fanta detail every game, including some upsets all three agree on. Start with the South Region.

Some highlights: James Madison to the Sweet 16, an SEC vs. Big East argument and why Houston can grind its way to the Final Four.

The guys largely went chalk in the South. The West Region offered more chances for upsets.

Some highlights: Tyon Grant-Foster might be the region’s best player, why Charleston can outrun and outgun Alabama, TO being forced to pick between his alma mater and his favorite MWC team, and whether UNC makes it out of the region.

The Midwest might be the “weakest” region, which sets things up for Purdue, right? Right?

There’s a double-digit showdown coming in the second round, Creighton continues Rick Barnes’ March woes, and why the Elite Eight game will be a game for the ages.

Then there’s the East. We already know who Dauster’s picking.

But everything else in the bracket’s historically loaded region? Get ready for upsets. All three of them are picking Yale to beat Auburn (!) and BYU to beat Illinois. Could there be an upset in the second week?

And no, none of this counted as a Monday overreaction. That was Monday’s After Dark show.
