1. Gonzaga gets its point guard
It had long been rumored that fifth-year transfer guard Xaivian Lee would be heading to Gonzaga to fill its need at point guard.
That news became official late Wednesday night.
Lee, the 6-4 guard, averaged 11.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 4.2 apg last season with Florida, shooting 29.2% from 3. He didn’t have quite the year he might’ve expected after starring at Princeton, but this could be Lee’s opportunity to show what he can do as a lead guard.
Gonzaga really needed Lee, too. Mark Few lost internationals Jack Kayil and Mario Saint Supery to pro leagues, and fifth-year transfer guard Javon Bennett (15.8 ppg, 2.9 apg at Dayton) was the only true point guard on the roster.
It’s important to note that Lee is in the California five-for-five lawsuit that received a temporary restraining order, while Bennett is in the Ohio case that was stayed. Currently, Lee is eligible and Bennett is not, but you never know what can happen before Nov. 2.
If Gonzaga keeps its full team intact with fifth-year players, here’s what they could look like:
Xaivian Lee, Florida transfer PG: 12.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 3.6 apg
Isiah Harwell, Houston transfer G/W: 3.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg
Davis Fogle, returning W: 8.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 35% 3FG
Braden Huff, returning PF: 17.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg
Massamba Diop, Arizona State transfer C: 13.6 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.1 blks
Bench: Javon Bennett, Chauncey Wiggins, Luca Foster, Nathan De Sousa, Skylar Wicks, Parker Jefferson, Izan Almansa, Juwan Ekanga-Ehawa, Sam Funches.
That roster would likely be the favorite to win the Pac 12 and a preseason top-20 team. The Zags would also have one of the bigger starting fives in the country at 6-4, 6-6, 6-7, 6-10 and 7-1.

There’s a theme developing in five-for-five eligibility lawsuits across the country.
On Wednesday, a third stay order was granted, this time in Tennessee, following the path of previous stays granted in the Ohio case and national Colorado case.
