Vols can finally Knecht on offense

Forget the Tennessee defense. Dalton Knecht is making the Vols a complete team. Plus, there was carnage in the Big 12, Purdue crushed Indiana, and much more.

Maybe the cold weather stirred everyone up. Because we had fights in multiple games, and even a coach pushing a player.

Let’s dive in.

1. Dalton Knecht is transforming Tennessee

Forget your preconceived notions about No. 6 Tennessee and its offensive limitations. Dalton Knecht is changing all that.

The Vols’ wing dropped a career-high 39 points in an 85-66 win over Florida, hitting on drives, on pull-up jumpers and from deep. The Gators (11-6, 1-3 in SEC) tried to be physical, but nothing worked.

“He's been doing that to everybody,” said Florida coach Todd Golden. “He did a lot in transition and broken plays. We weren't good enough to protect the rim.”

Knecht hit 13-of-23 shots and was 4-of-6 on 3s, topping 30 points for the second-straight game, and scoring the most points ever by a Vols player in a three-game stretch (101).

Even Rick Barnes knew a special night was coming for Knecht.

“That was pretty impressive. I thought his teammates started feeling it, too, that they knew that (Knecht) was in a little bit of a good rhythm, a good place, and trying to really get him the ball. And know that when he gets that look that he was going to go with it," Barnes said.

Knecht explained what was working so well to the After Dark crew.

While Knecht carried the offense, Tennessee played a complete game on both sides.
