The Two Towers

Providence, Gonzaga both add big men that'll boost overall depth and potential upside. Plus, Green Bay snags a notable prospect, Memphis deals with an injury and much more.

Good morning. Today might be a good time to avoid the Boston fans in your life. Well, at least if your Boston friends are “good winners” like the ones I know.

Let's get to Monday’s news.

1. That Friar frontline’s gonna be HUGE

That old adage that you can never have enough size? Seems like Providence’s a believer.

The Friars already have 7-foot transfer Christ Essandoko, 7-2 JUCO player Anton Burke, and 6-10 redshirt freshman Eli DeLaurier.

So what’s one more young guy with size?

Erhunmwunse is a 6-10, 220-pound center with plenty of bounce and athleticism who’ll enroll at Providence this summer after reclassifying from the class of 2025. He thrived in the NBAPA Top-100 Camp in Orlando earlier this month, averaging 12.6 ppg, 7.2 rpg and 2.2 bpg.

He’s probably not a starter, but Erhunmwunse should be a valuable asset off the bench, especially as Bryce Hopkins rounds into shape after his knee injury this season.

“Oswin is an elite talent and we are excited that he will be joining our team this season,” Friars coach Kim English said in a Monday release. “Oswin has the ability to score the ball in a number of ways and is dominant on the defensive side of the ball. Most importantly, he has an infectious personality and he will be great fit for the culture of our program.”

Featuring Erhunmwunse, Essandoko and Hopkins along the frontline next season is an enticing thought, and not far off from what K-State might be doing in Manhattan. Can’t wait to see how it shakes out.

Providence wasn’t the only program to add significant size on Monday. Check out Gonzaga’s latest commit.
