1. Illinois, Georgetown land prospects

Teams aren’t done building out their rosters for next season, with a pair of high-major programs landing key prospects. One is Illinois, which got a commitment from one of the top local class of 2026 recruits, Lincoln Williams. He’s a 6’6 wing from Kankakee, Illinois, listed as a four-star prospect in various recruiting services.

Averaging over 26 ppg in his last year of high school, Williams also has “the potential to be an elite defender at the collegiate level,” per Brad Underwood. For the Illini, a consensus preseason top-10 team for next year, the addition of Williams makes it a six-man freshman class. Andrej Stojakovic and Providence transfer guard Stefan Vaaks are the only veteran perimeter players, so there’s a clear path for some of these freshmen, such as Williams, to find a way onto the rotation next season.

Georgetown also landed a key commitment on Monday in 6-foot-6 wing Pedro Pastre. The Brazilian is already familiar with the Hoyas, scoring a game-high 16 points in Brazil’s 77-73 upset win over Team USA in the Gold Medal Game of the Global Jam a year ago. Also on that team was Gabriel Landeira, a redshirt freshman for the Hoyas this past season, who reunites with Pastre.

Known for his shooting ability, Pastre could turn out to be an important commitment for the Hoyas. Here’s a look at the three-point percentage numbers of the incoming perimeter transfers.

  • Josiah Parker (16% at FAU)

  • Jaland Lowe (21% at Kentucky)

  • Kayvaun Mulready (34%)

  • Elmarko Jackson (37% on 43 total attempts at Kansas)

  • Vyctorius Miller (38% at OK State)

Between the size and shooting, look for Pastre to find a way into the Hoyas rotation.

2. How did the future of CBB play at FIBA U18?

On Sunday, Team USA fell 67-65 to Canada in the Gold Medal game of the U18 AmeriCup. Overall, the tournament showcased plenty of future basketball stars from the USA and other countries. There are currently 11 players set to play CBB in the 2026-27 season. Here’s an overview of their games and projected impact as freshmen.
