Four-star guard Jamaal McKnight Jr. discusses Team Durant success, recruitment

Class of 2027 four-star point guard Jamaal McKnight Jr. has been the driving force for the Team Durant Nike EYBL program this summer, leading the team in scoring and assists.

But none of those statistics matter to McKnight. It’s all about the W’s.

"I'm just a winner,” McKnight said. “I'm going to do whatever it takes to win. If I need to score, I'm going to score. If I need to distribute, I'm going to distribute. But I feel like I can just do both at a high level. The main the about me, when I'm seeing all my guys eating, that's what makes me happy."

Through three sessions this summer, the Baltimore native has led Team Durant to a 7-4 record, good for the fourth best record in their division. If there aren’t any hiccups in Vegas, McKnight and his squad would be safely in the Peach Jam field.

“And our biggest goal for the summer is to win Peach Jam,” McKnight said. “We came close the last two years, lost Final Four both years. So I feel like this is the year to go get it."

Right now, McKnight feels his best trait is “getting downhill at will” and making the right read from there. Team Durant will certainly need his playmaking to go all the way.

On the recruitment front, McKnight holds offers from Butler, East Carolina, Georgetown, Maryland, Penn State, San Francisco, St. Joe's, TCU, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
