Four-star guard Chase Lumpkin dishes on recruitment, summer

It’s been a summer to remember for class of 2027 four-star guard Chase Lumpkin.

The 6-4 guard and top-35 prospect out of McEachern (GA) and the Jet Academy Nike EYBL AAU program has gained several new offers and watched his stock rise due to his play. Across 11 games, Lumpkin has averaged 16.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game (third in 17u), flirting with a triple-double on several occasions.

He’s also led Jet Academy to a 6-5 record tied for sixth in their division.

“I feel like we have a really good group,” Lumpkin said of his summer with Jet. “We've just been playing together and allowing everyone to eat. My teammates make it a lot easier for me to score the ball or when I'm not hitting my shots it's been easy to get the ball out of my hands and let my teammates make a play.

"Of course I’m the leader. The guy. I get a bucket whenever I need to and also get my teammates involved. I feel like I'm the X-factor of the team."

One scout I talked to at the first EYBL session in Atlanta said Lumpkin may just be the best player in the class. Lumpkin’s production gives him a great argument.

On the recruitment front, Lumpkin has gathered offers from several programs including Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, California, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Providence, Rutgers, SMU, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Utah.

He’s previously taken an unofficial visit to Alabama and will officially visit the Tide on Sept. 19. Lumpkin doesn’t have any other officials set in stone, but he’s been in talks with Georgia, Louisville, Oregon, Kentucky, Providence, Iowa, Michigan, USC about taking one.
