FIBA MVP Javion Tyndale breaks down standout summer, recruitment
The 5-8 point guard has two official visits set for the fall and more interest pouring in from programs after a successful summer.

For class of 2027 prospect Javion Tyndale, it’s about heart over height.
Tyndale, the 5-8 point guard, may be small in stature, but he’s one of the very best players in high school basketball.
Earlier this summer, Tyndale led Team Canada to its first ever gold medal in the U18 Americup, averaging 12.6 points and a event-leading 6.0 assists en route to MVP honors.
"It meant everything,” Tyndale said of winning gold. “The whole Canada was watching. It felt like the whole Canada was on my back, the team's back, because that was one of the best teams we've had in years for the under men's age groups. There wasn't a lot of pressure for us, we just went out there and showed Canada players can hoop."
Tyndale also carried his FIBA success into the EYBL season, posting averages of 16.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals at Peach Jam.
“I'm an electric point guard,” Tyndale said. “I try to get everyone involved. I can make my own shots, create for myself. Just lead a team to a win.”
As for those who underestimate Tyndale because of his size?
“You can do anything you put your mind to,” the point guard said. “I'm basically the blue print for the small guards in Canada -- Miles Sadler. There's a lot of success coming back from the small guards. Jalen Brunson obviously won the championship. I won the FIBA gold. Miles won Chipotle and EYBL scholastic. So there's a lot of success from the small guards, and to all the doubters, you might just get beat by a small guard.”
Tyndale’s performances with Team Canada and UPlay Canada have also elevated recruitment.
“It's skyrocketed,” Tyndale said. “A lot of high major programs, mid-major programs reached out."
Currently, the point guard holds offers from the likes of Bowling Green, Charlotte, East Carolina, Kent State, Loyola Chicago, Ohio, Providence, Richmond, Seton Hall, Stephen F. Austin, St. Bonaventure, UNLV and West Virginia. He’s also set a couple official visits for the fall.
