Dominant duo
UConn dismantled Xavier. Duke rolled vs. BC. Both of these teams need a real test -- like on Saturday. Plus: Miami (Ohio) extends its start to 23-0, Saint Louis stretches its streak to 16, Ament's rolling for Tennessee, and much more from Tuesday.
Good morning! Thanks for subscribing to the Daily. And you’re new here, click the button below. You’ll be happy to have all the college hoops updates as March nears.
Let's get to Tuesday’s news.

1. UConn, Duke cruise as rivalry games loom
No. 3 UConn could use a challenge in the Big East. Maybe Friday.
The Huskies handled Xavier, 92-60, on Tuesday and extended their win streak to 18 games. It’s the third-longest streak in program history and its longest since 1998-99. UConn (22-1, 12-0 in Big East) is off to its best league start since 1995-96 when it won its first 14 conference games.
Silas Demary Jr. led the Huskies with 17 points and eight assists, while Tarris Reed Jr. had 14 points (he didn’t miss a shot) and grabbed eight boards. UConn scored 1.34 points per possession and assisted on 26 of its 34 field goals.
Next up? A trip to Madison Square Garden and St. John’s. Cross your fingers the Johnnies are ready. Rick Pitino knows what’s coming.
No. 4 Duke didn’t have the same final margin as UConn, but it also didn’t get much of a game against Boston College. A 67-49 win marked its 10th-straight victory in a game where it led wire-to-wire. Seven of the last last eight victories have all been by double digits.
Cam Boozer (19 points, 12 rebounds, a career-high five steals) did his usual stat-stuffing thing (and had a nasty dunk), while Isaiah Evans (12 points) was the only other Devil in double figures. Duke (21-1, 10-0 in ACC) shot 48% from the field and scored just 1.09 ppp, its least-efficient game since Dec. 6.
Next up? North Carolina on Saturday.
2. Another game, another close Miami (Ohio) win
There will come a time when Miami (Ohio) loses a game this season. Tuesday was not that night — even if Buffalo was the latest team to push the RedHawks to the final whistle.
