Class of 2028 point guard JJ Sati-Grier chats early recruitment, summer

There may not be a better passer in all of high school basketball than class of 2028 prospect JJ Sati-Grier.

The 6-foot point guard out of Sierra Canyon (CA) and the Team WhyNot Nike EYBL AAU program has showcased that ability throughout the summer.

Most recently at Nike Elite 100 Camp, Sati-Grier stood out to several coaches for his playmaking ability. He’s also been one of the top performers on the 16u circuit, averaging 21.0 points (9th in EYBL), 5.0 assists and 3.3 steals (1st in EYBL).

“I’m just a pass-first guard,” Sati-Grier said of his game. “I get others involved. I feel like I can score when needed and I'm very crafty around the rim. And then just my speed with the ball, pushing the ball with pace. And I think my decision making is pretty good, but I'm working on becoming more of a vocal leader."

Throughout Nike Elite 100 Camp, Sati-Grier consistently showcased his elite court vision, whether it was threading the ball through a tight window or firing an outlet pass ahead for an easy layup. On several occasions, his assists led to coaches raising eyebrows and exchanging looks.

But how did Sati-Grier become such a great passer?

“I think it's just me playing since I was young,” he said. “It's kind of natural. Just me playing against older guys since I was young, having to make the right decision every time because of the older guys. I had to be smart and be more crafty with my passes. So just having the confidence to see what I see on the court and make strong passes.”

Due to Sati-Grier’s play, he’s gained offers from California, Indiana, Kansas, Southern Utah, UCLA and USC. He broke down some of those programs below and named more programs to reach out since June 15:
