How has Lewis Uvwo emerged as one of the top big man prospects? We talked to him about it. Plus: Purdue added a 7-footer (shocker!), St. John's brought it a prep player, Texas and Auburn got international players, and much more.
Good morning! Portal commitments have slowed considerably. So let’s showcase some high school recruiting content.
In partnership with D1.relocation

1. Launching our new series: On the Trail
Once the transfer portal dies down for the summer, there’s nothing better than heading out on the recruiting trail to evaluate upcoming college basketball talent.
Coaches did just that this past weekend during the live evaluation period for high school prospects. I’ll be out and about all summer as well for our new YouTube series, "On the Trail,” featuring interviews with all the top prospects.
For the first episode, I chatted with 4-star big man Lewis Uvwo, EYBL’s current blocks leader with 43 (6.1 per game) through seven games. To put that into context, EYBL’s second-leading shot blocker in the EYBL has 23 (that’s 5-star power forward and tight end Ahmad Hudson, one of sport’s most electrifying athletes).
In turn, the 6-11 Nigeria native, who also spent time with the NBA Academy, has earned several high major offers and drawn major buzz across the high school basketball landscape.
He was excited to talk about his journey, why he loves playing basketball, the programs recruiting him and much more:
I’ll be in Kansas City during Memorial Day weekend to catch up with some more prospects. Recruitments will start to come more into focus as the summer moves along, so expect more recruiting features during the summer.
2. Purdue’s *huge* prep addition
Purdue’s a hub for successful big men under coach Matt Painter. Every season since 2012-13, the Boilermakers’ roster has included at least one player over 7-feet tall, with standouts such as Zach Edey, Isaac Haas and A.J. Hammons.
That pipeline grew even stronger over the weekend.
